webapp
iPhone - iPad
To create a shortcut to your webapp on the home screen, follow these steps:
- Open Safari (this feature is only available via Safari, not via other browsers on iOS).
- Go to your webapp page https://char-fr.net/-Expo-2025-en-.html
- Tap the share icon (square with an up arrow) at the bottom of the screen.
- Scroll through the options and select ‘On Home Screen’.
- Customise the shortcut name if you like.
- Press ‘Add’ at the top right.
Your webapp icon will then appear on the Home screen, next to your applications, and will open the page directly in Safari.
Note
If you don’t see the ‘On home screen’ option, scroll to the bottom of the sharing menu, choose ‘Edit actions’ and add it.
Android
To display a webapp (website or Progressive Web App) on the home screen of an Android smartphone, there is a quick and easy method, mainly via the Google Chrome browser, but also with other compatible browsers.
Steps to follow with Google Chrome:
- Open Google Chrome on your Android device.
- Go to the web page https://char-fr.net/-Expo-2025-en-.html
- Press the menu button (three vertical dots in the top right-hand corner).
- Select ‘Add to Home Screen’ from the drop-down menu.
- Choose a name for the shortcut if required, then confirm.
- The shortcut is automatically added to your Home screen. You can move it anywhere you like.
For Progressive Web Apps (PWA):
- If the site is a PWA, Chrome may offer to ‘Install the application’ directly or display an installation banner. Once installed, the PWA will appear on the home screen and can work offline, offering an experience similar to that of a native application.
- On some browsers or versions of Chrome, a window will ask you to choose between ‘Install’ (for PWA) or ‘Create a shortcut’ (for a simple link).
Note:
This method also works on other compatible browsers (Firefox, Opera, Samsung Internet), with similar menus.
To delete the shortcut, long-press the icon and drag it to ‘Delete’ or the basket.
Advantages:
- One-click access to your favourite sites or webapps.
- PWAs can be used offline, with notifications, just like a real application.
In short, all you have to do is use your browser’s ‘Add to home screen’ function to turn any website or webapp into an icon that can be accessed directly from your home screen.
